In
a perfect line of evolution from their debut album, Visions
& Voices, Riley and Elleson's The Blessing
Tree continues to develop their progressive Celtic style,
this time combining the non-lyrical scat with true lyrics
in the vocal arrangements.
They further develop their overall sound along contemporary
Celtic classical lines, moving on from the soundtrack quality
of their debut album. The result is a timeless work of unimagineable
proportion.
Additional instrumentation and outstanding multi-layered
vocal harmonies perfectly illustrate sensitive lyrics, beginning
with the opening track Come Silver Moon. The welcome
shift of Elleson's vocals away from pure scat to lyrics
is dramatic.
This
album received 5 nominations at the NZ Music Awards and
was in the US radio play charts for more than 7 months,
reaching a high at number 11 - remarkable for a 'non-US'
album and testament to the love and skills of not only the
artists, but also the guidance and genius of Grammy award
winning producer Jon Mark.
